The theme surrounding this sculpture is escapism. The concept of vanishing away to a world only you know of. Where you don’t have to consider logic and reason. I aimed to create a portal that transports a person to a different space. Everyone has their version of a lalaland: fictitious worlds that seduce you in some form or shape. I wanted to represent one of my fictitious worlds through this illusionary sculpture. I was also heavily inspired by the concept design in the Avatar movies, and used a lot of the flora depicted in this work and as a starting reference point.
