Relief Sculpture 1

Medium: Cement
Dimensions: 4′ x 5′
Year: 2022

This is a series of relief sculptural pieces I created for a corporate workplace. I sought to create something unique by incorporating some essential elements of the footwear industry to provide a behind-the-scenes peek into the manufacturing process.

Footprints are rarely permanent, but given how long this has been the company’s line of work, I sought to showcase a sense of permanency. To illustrate this, I created a piece that carries imprints of various pieces of footwear manufactured by our company on cement.

While the use of cement adds an element of ruggedness that one would associate with the hills of Nepal, where the business is based, I think its use also helps bring out the nuances of design in all the products.
